MRS. PUSHA T SPILLS THE TEA!
On July 21st, exactly one year from the day he proposed, Terrence “Pusha T” Thornton, President of record label G.O.O.D. Music (founded by Kanye West) and his long-time sweetheart Virginia Williams took Virginia Beach by storm with their star-studded wedding that included plenty of Hip Hop royalty and was laced with personal touches. We had the pleasure of chatting with Virginia to hear about her #MervisMoment and exclusive details from their wedding day. Here are the things you need to know from Mrs. T herself!
Let’s start with her favorite moment.
“We were just talking about this last night! After first dance and sitting down being husband and wife for the first time, looking around and seeing everyone there for us. It meant so much to us.”
First Dance Song—Makings of You by Curtis Mayfield. Virginia stated, “It’s an old song but both Terrence and I love Curtis Mayfield.”
With musical icons, and celebrity friends like Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, Fabolous, Trey Songz and DJ Clark Kent rocking the turn tables all night, the #VirginiaIsForTerrence wedding reception likely mirrored all of the energy and hype of your favorite music award show…and then some. The Thorntons took things to the next level to make sure every aspect of their wedding paid homage to their upbringing and represented their incredible couple style. In fact, while planning their playlist with Clark, they insisted on including a minimum of 15-20 minutes to feature their favorite Virginia artists like best man Pharrell Williams and Missy Elliot, to name a few. Not only did the Thorntons localize their playlist, they selected local jeweler Mervis Diamond Importers to help officially tie the knot!
Let’s talk about the bling! When Virginia and Terrence first moved to the DMV, they met and friended our own Zed and Sharon Mervis and came to learn about the collections available at Mervis.
How long did it take to choose a wedding band?
“I actually came into one of your events, myself…maybe during the Holidays and I saw this ring I really liked. I tried it on and it didn’t go well with my engagement ring, but I showed it to Terrence and he really liked it…for himself! When it came time to getting his ring he remembered that one.”
Opting for bands that reflect their own individual styles, Virginia paired a slim platinum diamond eternity band featuring round brilliant cut diamonds that perfectly matched her engagement ring. King T created a custom platinum 9 carat asscher cut diamond eternity band. General Sales Manager Becky Hubbard guided them through the process. “Becky was so amazing. We just told her what we liked, and she did everything. We didn’t have to do anything! It was so easy.”
Is it too early to think about a perfect first anniversary gift? We think not! After a thoughtful pause, Mrs. T admitted she’s interested in something classic and timeless – a diamond tennis bracelet. Terrence, we’re sending you an early hint ?.
So, what’s the best thing about #wifelife with Terrence?
“We’ve been together for a long time so not too much has changed but the one thing that I love about Terrence is how happy and proud he is now. Don’t get me wrong, he’s always been an amazing guy but I just see that happiness and pride [for us] even more— that’s what I love.”
